FAMILY NURTURE TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAM

This is a two-day program.

(This program can be accessed in person or as a virtual (online) program with equivalent timed modules).

‘Parents play a crucial role in supporting their children’s learning, and levels of parental engagement are consistently associated with better academic outcomes’. EEF 2018

Family Nurture has a positive impact on learner’s behaviour, learning and achievement, and mental health and wellbeing. Family Nurture has a history of attracting and engaging hard to reach parents and will support families to embrace the six nurture principles for learning.

Family Nurture is an evidenced based program that will enable educational settings and parents to work in partnership, to help learners to be happy and successful.

Parents will feel empowered and confident in enhancing their children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development including:

  • Self esteem

  • Intrinsic Motivation

  • Focus and Attention

  • Understanding and Managing Emotions

  • Empathy

  • Co-operation and Collaboration

On completion of the two-day program, early learning settings/schools will be able to:

  • Work in partnership with parents to meet learners’ developmental needs.

  • Engage the most vulnerable families.

  • Embrace the six nurture principles for learning across the school community.

What have previous participants said about this program?

I cannot recommend the Family Nurture training enough. A comprehensive and engaging course delivered by Alison and Yvonne, whose passion for nurture, and their knowledge of it shines through consistently. Each session gave us the opportunity to engage in discussion around the nurture principles, which expand on the neurological & sensory impact of trauma. Lots of time provided to engage in tasks that were thought provoking, and fun!

I have been running dedicated nurture groups in Drumchapel High for the past 3 years and the impact of Covid-19 on our children and their families is clear. After delivering online nurture lessons during lockdown and parents telling us that they benefited from joining in, I was left with the question – how do we now support parents with their social and emotional needs too? This is a strong focus for the school and as my colleague and I are part of the Parental Engagement working group we feel this training was the ideal opportunity to support us in engaging parents and empowering them with skills to support their children, themselves, and wider family. We are now ready to plan our first ‘trial run’ for a small group. Feeling very motivated!
